These three musicians form the rhythm section and nucleus to a number of Devon’s foremost jazz bands. Playing together so often, they have developed a mutual understanding and empathy which they comes out all the more in the classic stripped-back trio format favoured by pianists from Bill Evans to Chick Corea. As well as showcasing the elements that can go unused in larger groups — Kevin’s ridiculously melodic bass lines, Gary’s subtle brushwork or Tom’s attempts to do do two completely different things with left and right hands — they will be performing music not usually heard on the Devon jazz scene: choice, lesser-known standards, original tunes, the odd re-harmonised pop song and songs by modern giants of jazz piano such as Brad Mehldau and Jason Rebello.
You might have heard these guys before but you won’t have heard them like this!
