Five crime writers, whose work ranges across the genre from medieval murder to the modern psychological thriller, get together to discuss the enduring appeal of crime fiction ˗ why people love to read it and why they love to write it.
Susan Wilkins is an internationally published best-selling author, known for her addictive, page-turning crime fiction. Following a career as a TV writer on top-rated shows including Casualty, Heartbeat, Coronation Street and Eastenders, she has published nine psychological thrillers.
S.M.Hardy is author of the Dark Devon Mystery series, locally-set crime novels with an element of the supernatural. She also writes fantasy under the name Sue Tingey.
Michael Jecks took up writing 30 years ago and has made a living as an author ever since. He has written 46 novels including The Last Templar series and is an expert on ‘medieval murder’.
Helena Dixon is a multi-award winning and best-selling author. She is currently in the USA 100 best sellers’ list. Her work includes the Kitty Underhay series, set in Dartmouth in the 1930s.
Stephanie Austin writes crime novels set in Ashburton and the surrounding Dartmoor landscape, featuring amateur sleuth and antique shop owner, Juno Browne. Her work has been described as “cosy crime with a harder edge”.
