On the last Monday of every month, we celebrate the music that draws inspiration from the great tradition that is the blues. Most of the musicians and bands billed are based in Devon and the South West. At the end of each night there’s an open jam session where the musicians on the bill play with each other, and anyone else who’d like to play a tune or two. These nights are curated by local bass player, Mary Caffrey.
Silence! In The Court Of Blues
Cutting edge blues from this Devon-based band. With Damien Marlowe on Keys, Nemo Jones on bass, Ric Byer on drums and Oliver Boyneon lead guitar and vocals. They sentence you to a night of unforgettable New Orleans-inspired, piano-led blues. A heady mix of creole/swamp, Chicago rhythm-and-bluesed-up covers. Fans of Dr John, Ray Charles, BB King, Bobby Bland and Fleetwood Mac will be in heaven. Join them here for a night of music to leave you feeling inspired and uplifted.
The Kev Davis Group
This is a new band on the SW music scene, their debut gig was in August 2023. They draw inspiration from that golden age of British blues/rock during the 1960s & 70s – The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Free, Led Zeppelin plus from across the Atlantic, Albert King, and the Allman brothers help to provide the foundations for a mix of driving rock and grinding blues. Some of their songs reflect Devon’s own rich history!
