The Jazz Funk Emporium band played here last year, and funk was in the house! A fantastic sound made by some of the finest musicians in the South West. This will be a great gig for a summer’s evening. Do you wanna dance? – get on the floor!

The band writes:
“The Jazz Funk Emporium first emerged in 2019 and includes some of the finest musicians with a slant and interest towards jazz funk in the Southwest. It’s a band dedicated to the funkier side of life dedicated to playing some of the most awesome jazz funk that this planet has to offer!. Bandleader and saxophonist Neil Maya has had an interest in Jazz Funk for a long time, particularly being a huge fan of funk saxophonists such as Maceo Parker and Michael Brecker, but also influenced by Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters and also the James Taylor Quartet (JTQ).

“The Line up is saxophones from Neil, keyboards from Tom Ball, electric bass from Kevin Sanders,, awesome Guitar from Ashburton’s very own Jesse Molins, drums from Gary Evans and percussion from Ben Waring.
Expect amazing grooves originally conceived by Herbie Hancock, The Brecker Brothers, John Schofield, The Yellow Jackets, The James Taylor Quartet, Average White Band, Pee Wee Ellis and more. ”
