NEW: Spectator ticket (seating in balcony): £5
Come to the first Milonga of 2025 at Ashburton Arts Centre. Let yourself be charmed by the mesmerizing sounds of the bandoneon played by Ruth Rozelaar with Andy Scott on the double bass. There’s dance space downstairs, plus seated listening space in the balcony (with a £5 spectator-only ticket available).
In June 2024, Ruth Rozelaar brought bandoneonist extraordinaire Orlando Dibelo to the UK from Argentina, and we were privileged to hear them playing together here in the Arts Centre. This time, Ruth is bringing Andy Scott to play a la parrilla style: this is where the musicians react to each other and the dancers, deciding where to go, musically, in the moment rather than everything being 100% planned in advance.
This performance is dedicated to creating as much space as possible for dancing tango. When the musicians are not playing, Yanna Esbenson will take to the decks as a traditional tango DJ.
