Update, Mon 26 May: We heard this morning that Alex Voysey is ill (suspected food poisoning) and is not going to be able to travel to Ashburton Today. He sends his sincere apologies.
So tonight we will have:
Vince Lee and Sophie Lord (perhaps with a special guest or two) will play an extended set.
Stepping in to replace the AV Trio will be Gigi and the Grits, who shared the bill with Vince here on New Year’s Eve.
Gigi and the Grits
Emily Smith vocals
Ray Kemp on lead guitar
Mary Caffrey on bass
plus special guest Paul Arthurs on drums (from Alex Voysey Trio)
plus the usual blues jam…
I hope you’ll decided to join us tonight anyway, for what will still be a fabulous night of [Not Only But Also The] Blues – see you later.

Arts Director, Ashburton Arts Centre
==============
The last Monday of every month here is Not Only But also The Blues where we feature some of the finest exponents in the south west, and beyond, of music whose roots are in the blues.
Alex Voysey Trio
“Outstanding, energetic, breathtaking”
Swanage Blues Festival 2024
Alex’s playing owes much to the influences of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joe Bonamassa, coupled with a refreshing and high-octane personal style. The trio’s original material is engaging, complex and memorable with virtuosic funk bass player Ben Hands’ monster 6 string Dingwall and the talents of drum maestro Paul Arthurs this is a band that is constantly evolving and which continues to excite audiences.
Vince Lee & Sophie Lord
Vince is simply one of the finest blues guitarists and singers you’ll ever see. Anywhere! He and Sophie got together a few years ago when she came home to the SW after 10 years playing in London and formed this vintage duo playing jump blues, swing, calypso and ragtime. Vince has been playing and singing the blues in all it’s forms since the mid 80s . He and Sophie have recently returned to Devon after touring in California, USA.
Along with the usual blues jam/open mic session. If you would like to be included, or to find out more, contact Mary Caffrey on mary.caffrey49@gmail.com.

See Access, Tickets & Finding Us for more about why there are three ticket prices, plus other useful info about coming to events at Ashburton Arts Centre: getting here, parking, loos, PA tickets, etc.
* We usually have three ticket prices – please pay what you can. If you can pay the full price, that’s great. If choosing a cheaper ticket allows you to come to more things, then please do! Ticket receipts are split between the artists (it’s usually their livelihood!) and the arts centre (keeps the place going). Except on the rare occasions when we have a sellout gig on our hands, it’s always better to have someone here in the audience than an empty seat, so genuinely, please pay whatever you can.
