Charlie Dore is one of the UK’s most respected singer songwriters. In an unusually diverse career her songs have won two Ascap awards, an Ivor Novello nomination and both the Overall Grand and the Folk Prize from the International Acoustic Music Awards.
Her 2017 album Dark Matter won both Album of the Year and Best Lyrics from the US Indie Acoustic Project, while her 2020 album, Like Animals, won her FATEA’s 2020 Female Artist of the Year + Best Lyrics 20-21 from the US Indie Acoustic Project.

While her own albums favour her more eclectic/roots leanings, she is one of a handful of UK writers to achieve success across many genres, defined by the range of artists to have recorded her songs, including Tina Turner, George Harrison, Celine Dion, Ricky Ross and Jimmy Nail, notching up a UK No 1, US No 4 plus Top 10 hits in Italy, Germany & France. She has also composed for three BBC drama series and two films. Her own hit, Pilot of the Airwaves still features on Radio 2’s core playlist and remains a worldwide radio favourite.

“A gift for melody, brave, poignant, entertaining, original” Guardian ★★★★

Like Animals reviews
“An amazingly astute, moving, intelligent and connected songwriter…a voice like Kate McGarrigle meets Dory Previn. Wonderful.” Mike Harding

“Her finest work to date” Mike Davies, Folk Radio UK

See Access, Tickets & Finding Us for more about why there are three ticket prices, plus other useful info about coming to events at Ashburton Arts Centre: getting here, parking, loos, PA tickets, etc.

* We usually have three ticket prices – please pay what you can. If you can pay the full price, that’s great. If choosing a cheaper ticket allows you to come to more things, then please do! Ticket receipts are split between the artists (it’s usually their livelihood!) and the arts centre (keeps the place going). Except on the rare occasions when we have a sellout gig on our hands, it’s always better to have someone here in the audience than an empty seat, so genuinely, please pay whatever you can.
