DDK Trio
:
Jacques Demierre, piano
Axel Dörner, trumpet
Jonas Kocher, accordion
“DDK Trio is developing a singular artistic proposition that is one of the most innovative in today’s creative music landscape. Made up of three major figures on the international music scene, this trio plays music that is totally focused on the moment. It follows in the tradition of ‘instant composition’ – going back to Lennie Tristano and including the legendary Jimmy Giuffre trio – and deploys an expressive palette ranging from silence to massive acoustic eruptions, while paying particular attention to the precise articulation of the musical discourse.”
Since 2014, the year of its creation, the trio has performed over sixty concerts across Europe, Russia and Japan, at renowned festivals and concert seasons such as the Mulhouse Météo Festival, Exploratorium Berlin, Music Salon Zagreb, Zavod Sploh Ljubljana, Curva Minore Palermo, France Musique Paris, Cave12 Genève, Instants Chavirés Paris, Theses Festival Kemerovo, Biennale Musica Venice 2020, SuperDeluxe Tokyo and in many more places in Europe, Russia and Japan.
In September 2019 they premiered “Biotope” a composition from Jacques Demierre written for the trio and the Ensemble Contrechamps Geneva. The trio released the LP “Floating Piece of Space” in 2016 (label cave12) and “Cone of Confusion” in 2018 (Bruit Editions). In June 2021 DDK Trio was granted a recording residency at GMEA Albi (F).
The 2023 tour, featuring 10 concerts in Canada and Europe, celebrates the release of the triple album ‘A Right to Silence’ on the Japanese label Meenna.
