Another great line up of two of the best blues acts in the South West, followed by a blues jam session. The live music starts pretty sharp after 7.30pm, as we have three sets to fit in before the end of the night around 11pm.
Apologies, The Chris Jagger Band which was originally advertised has had to cancel its appearance on 26 February for medical reasons. We hope to be able to arrange an appearance by the band on another date later this year.
Instead, Adam Sweet will be bringing his band rather than appearing solo, and the other spot will be a performance by a great young local blues/funk band, Tempus. Full details to be announced very soon.
Adam Sweet
Guitarist and singer/songwriter Adam has featured here at our Not Only but Also the Blues night several times. Balancing richly detailed song writing with expertly piercing guitar work, he released his second album ‘Sink or Swim’ in 2020. With brooding ballads and rollicking roots rock he delivers honest tales of loss, longing and hope as he continues to carve out his own territory between classic rock, blues and Americana. Always a fabulous watch and listen.

Tempus features 5 young musicians who met at school right here in Ashburton. I’ve been really impressed by the bass playing of Ash Goulding, who I’ve seen in various school productions – clearly the lynch pin of whatever group he was with. He and some other current and recent sixth formers performed at the Arts Centre last year and were stunning. This band too has the makings of something very special – one of those that you might remember in years to come that you saw them hear in their early days – they can already play, and sound fab! (Andy Williamson, Arts Director, Ashburton Arts Centre)

On the last Monday of every month, we celebrate the music that draws inspiration from the great tradition that is the blues. Most of the musicians and bands billed are based in Devon and the South West. At the end of each night there’s an open jam session where the musicians on the bill play with each other, and anyone else who’d like to play a tune or two. These nights are curated by local bass player, Mary Caffrey. If you would like to play, or to find out more, contact her on mary.caffrey49@gmail.com.
