Richard Chappell Dance presents
AMPLIFY
Richard Chappell Dance presents an evening that celebrates and shines a light on the choreographic voices from artists based in or from South West England, in this new mixed-bill.
AMPLIFY features a flowing and mesmerising duet from Richard Chappell Dance’s seminal work Silence Between Waves, inspired by Chappell’s own memories and experiences of growing up on the South Devon coast.
Alongside this will be Murmur by NooN Collective, a multi-sensory, cross-artform performance and interactive installation piece that explores the natural phenomena of mycelium – the underground fusing networks of fungi. Renowned poet Saili Katebe joins forces with RCD’s ensemble of dancers for Challacombe Chronicled, inspired by stories of the ancient farm and its surrounding landscapes on Dartmoor.
The evening’s programme is completed by a newly commissioned work from Malin Kvist and Willa Faulkner as part of RCD’s Supporting Acts programme, alongside a showcase of the vibrant local youth dance community in South West England, with performances by students of Newton Abbot College and South Dartmoor Community College.
Richard Chappell Dance is a company rooted in Devon which has performed nationally and internationally. This performance celebrates a decade of its pioneering dance in the South West.
For the last 10 years Richard Chappell Dance has created memorable and moving dance experiences for audiences across the UK on stage, screen and in person through wide-reaching participatory projects.
