Normally the first Monday of each month starting at 7.30pm. Each session starts with a couple of numbers from the house rhythm section before they invite guests to join them, and the jam session begins. These nights have become an increasingly popular hang for local jazz musicians, with occasional surprise guests from further afield – in September, London-based sax players Derek Nash (of Jools Holland’s band) and Gary Plumley dropped in and played on a couple of numbers.
Admission is £8 or £5 or £3 (or free if you need it to be). This goes towards paying the professional musicians in the house band.
The thirteenth of these is on Monday 7 October 2024 when the house band will be:
- Jesse Molins on guitar, and your host for the evening
- Kevin Sanders, Double Bass
- TonyFollano, Drums
Everyone, of whatever level of musical experience is welcome to come and play or sing at the session. If you’d like to play, introduce yourself to the host, Jesse Molins, who’ll decide on a running order. You should have at least one tune prepared that you know well. If it’s not a standard, or if you need to do it in a different key from the original, please bring lead sheets or chord charts in the right key for the rhythm section and other players who might join you.
