Bassist John Williamson’s project includes renowned saxophonist and bandleader Alex Hitchcock, and Jay Davis, whose drumming propels a number of outstanding UK bands. John describes his writing as, “anchored by a ruthlessly focused melodic instinct, ranging from reworkings of songbook harmony to big-sky Americana influenced by his time in the US. A selection of standards completes an intimate, expressive set, at times revelling in the pared-back format and at other times transcending it.”
Born and raised in Saltburn, north-east England, John is now based in London and has played alongside musicians including Ivo Neame, Riley Stone-Lonergan, Rachael Cohen, Jonny Mansfield, Dominic Ingham, Jo Harrop, Nigel Price, and many more.
