Drawing on a love of Turkish, Eastern and Middle Eastern music, Flamenco, Tango, Jazz and more, Nicolas Meier’s considerable talents have made him a mainstay of The Jeff Beck Group, joining him on two world tours.
He’s performed in Ashburton before as a guitar duo with Pete Oxley, and is a truly stunning player. On this tour for his new album Peaceful, Nicolas is joined by Kevin Glasgow on bass*, Demi Garcia on percussion and Richard Jones on violin.
Andy Williamson writes: “I’ve predicted a couple gigs so far as being ‘gigs of the year’ – Liane Carroll and Quentin Collins 5tet: both of those were bang on. I reckon this is going to be another. Don’t miss it if you can. As well as Nic’s fine playing, I saw Kevin Glasgow play in Scotland when he was still a teenager, and he was one of the most virtuosic 5-string electric bass I’d ever seen. Now, like a fine whiskey, 15 years later, he’s just amazing.”
