It’s become a tradition already at the Arts Centre to start off each year with a visit from Adrian Cox. This is his third January gig here, with the same stupendous band. This is jazz and showmanship of the highest calibre – you are GUARANTEED to leave with a smile on your face and the tunes running around your head for days.
World-renowned jazz clarinettist Adrian Cox and his quartet present music from their brand new album, Now Is Spring.
The music on this album tour is written by Adrian and longtime collaborator, pianist Joe Webb.
So, what to expect from this concert?
Now Is Spring draws on Cox’s influences of New Orleans, blues and swing music. The tunes are written with the soul and passion of those beyond their years, and they have created a timeless set of beautiful melodies. As a band they play as one, seamlessly creating an often orchestral voice. Their sound has become unmistakable and is one which we hope you will capture first hand.
Over the past 2 years the band has toured extensively presenting a tribute to jazz clarinet legend Edmond Hall, with shows all across Europe and at Dizzy’s Club (New York). Their accompanying album “Profoundly Blue” was nominated for the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2019 (Best Jazz Album).
Adrian continues to be one of the most in-demand musicians on the scene today and has played and recorded with many of the best including Wynton Marsalis, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Guy Barker, Paloma Faith and the late Dr John to name a few.
