Informal and informative, cellist Catherine Rimer performs the first two of J.S. Bach’s ingenious masterpieces for solo cello with a spoken introduction setting them in the context for which they were written. More about these pieces here. She draws on historically informed performance practices, having worked for both Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s English Baroque Soloists, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for over 20 years. She also teaches at the Royal College of Music and plays a fine original Baroque cello made in London by Thomas Smith.
