Joy Ellis Trio

Joy Ellis performed here at Ashburton Arts Centre in November 2019, and was fabulous. She’s a great live performer, and her original songs which she sings at the piano are gorgeously funky. She also made it into being commemorated as part of our decor, as her poster was used to decorate one of our tables. With Henrik Jensen on double bass and drummer Adam Osmianski this is a superb band, and this is going to be a great night.

In March 2022 Joy released her third album with Henrik and Adam. Recorded at the end of May 2021 her new material has a relaxed and minimalist vibe in keeping with the album’s title, ‘Peaceful Place’. Moving through the pandemic Joy felt there were no words she could sing to capture the grief and sense of loss that she and other people she knew had experienced.
