Local bass player Mary Caffrey seeks out some of the best blues bands and musicians in the South West for this monthly feast of great music. As usual, there are two different bands playing a set each, followed by an unplugged jam involving these and other local or visiting musicians. These Monday night sessions have become a real treat – a chance to see a big range of music on the same bill, with something unique every time.
For the third session of 2022 we have, as they describe themselves:
Sideways : Peter Buxton And Richard Smith
“Sideways is a Blues Jazz Duo which revels in the joys of playing live music.
Harmonica, guitar and vocals intertwine with an energised and varied selection of atmospheric blues/jazz, with a sprinkling of original numbers.
Peter Buxton (Solo artist, writer and former front man for Herding Catz Bluesband) and Rick Smith (master of the harp in every sense of the word), combine to promote a unique and experienced interpretation of their passion for great music. Their coming together by chance has enabled their impact on the SW music scene, and both have toured extensively in the UK and abroad. Some lively blues and banter is assured.”

The Crockneys
“Chris and Andy have been playing together for about 5 years – previously in rock bank ‘Mistreated’ before leaving to form Pop / Rock trio ‘The Dockneys’ becoming one of the busiest bands in Devon. Before this Andy played in the London area. Chris B and Chris Y played together years ago in Devon based bands the ‘Johnsons Blues Explosion’, the ‘Levi Moretons’ and the ‘Covers Brothers’ before going their separate ways. Chris Y has since played in other Devon bands including ‘Linney Magic’, ‘Mighty Camel Toe’, ‘Bail Jumpers’ and recently ‘Rockfella 4’. They all join forces to form ‘The Crockneys’ trio for a one off night of lively blues rock!”
