Quique Bonal and Kid Carlos
Based in Seville, in southern Spain, this masterful guitar duo is making a short tour of south west England. Expect swing, ragtime and modern rock, passing through bluegrass, jazz, bebop and of course the blues. They aim to demonstrate and bring appreciation of the richness and variety of music they love. Both have worked with the legendary record producer Mike Vernon, who produced many well known British artists of the 60s, 70s and 80s including Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Ten Years After, who says of them: “The two guitarists lock in together as if one whilst the crisp solo work is not only creative and emotive but is a delicious surprise”
Big Mouth Blues Band
Fronted by Wendy Herman. Wendy has been on the Old Grey Whistle Test, performed with Dave Stuart of the Eurythmics, Chaz Jankel from the Blockheads and has worked as a session vocalist with top African Bands. Wendy is a charismatic performer with a rich voice and joyful stage presence. Her first love was the blues so at last she has joined forces with Mary Caffrey on Bass to give expression to her love of blues. Mary is well known on the blues circuit. Also a charismatic presence on stage, Mary holds the band together with her rock steady bass playing along with the legendary Bill Birks on drums. Bill has a long musical pedigree but here he sits back and lets the lady sing the blues. Richard and Jonathan Pickles are a father and son team who provide highly experienced and gifted guitar work. Together they interpret and express the blues with power, conviction and passion.
Not Only But Also the Blues is a monthly session that draws inspiration from the great tradition of blues providing an opportunity for bands to play in a great venue for a truly appreciative audience.
