A relaxed evening of mythological exploration with author Dr Steve Kershaw, an expert on dead languages and the people who don’t speak them anymore:

‘The magnificent Dr Stephen Kershaw’”(Greg Jenner, BBC Radio 4)

Steve been captivated by the myths of the Ancient Greeks ever since he read Homer’s Iliad with his torch under the bedclothes at the age of 10, and he hasn’t stopped talking and writing about them ever since. He even has a Spaniel called Hero.

Mr. Kershaw is one of those rare creatures who combine expertise in the classical world with narrative flair. Beyond his skill in historical research, Mr. Kershaw brings a gift for poetic accent very much in the ancient Greek style.’ (The Wall Street Journal)

Steve’s recent publications include this year’s Very Short Introductions for Curious Young Minds: Ancient Myths, Legends and Superheroes: and How they Live on Today (Oxford University Press), Greek Myths and Legends: Tales of Heroes, Gods & Monsters. Reading List & Glossary of Terms, with a New Introduction by DR. STEVE KERSHAW (Flame Tree Publishing, 2022), and Mythologica, magnificently illustrated by Victoria Topping (Wide Eyed Editions, 2019). Mythologica was Best Children’s non-fiction book of 2019 (Amazon.com), nominated for the Kate Greenaway Award, 2019, and The Guardian, Book of the Month {Children}, 28/9/19:
‘The fantastical images could come straight from 1960s album covers, mixing reality and symbolism, with a diversity of skin colors and some hint at gender fluidity—it’s definitely a mythology collection for a new generation. A visually over-the-top paean to stories that still resonate today.’ (Kirkus Review).

Join Steve for an odyssey through his love of mythology, tales of book-writing, and a few extraordinary mythical adventures along the way.
